Alison wanted to completely revamp her garden and give it a sense of style and serenity.
The existing fencing was retained and repaired where necessary. This was then painted black, including gravel boards and posts. This type of black background provides an intense backdrop for any planting.
The existing hedging was cut back where it had become overgrown - however this was only minimal trim as we wanted to keep a natural look.
The old shed was also repaired and painted black to give the impression of an elongated garden. This also brought the fencing and shed into a seamless border.
The old lawn was removed to provide a levelled area. Raised railway sleeper flower beds with varying tiers and heights were then installed.
A weed-proof membrane was laid and was securely staked to the ground. Plants were then positioned throughout and planted within the raised flower beds and into the levelled area.
Old reclaimed York stone slabs were then laid to create a stepping stone path, with gravel spread throughout, creating a simple yet stunning gravel garden.
